Congratulations to Jennifer and Whitfield who tied the not this past January at theFairmontUnitedMethodistChurchinRaleigh. Jennifer and Whitfield chose to see each other before the wedding for a “First Look.” Now, I must set the scene first, a Tornado had just touched down north of the city only moments before we had left the hotel to meet up in Downtown Raleigh. It was still raining when we arrived, but the decision was made to go ahead with the First Look outside as planned. Jennifer eagerly waited in the car while Whitfield took his place aside the front steps of theCapitalBuilding. Once he was ready, umbrella in tow, Jennifer, escorted by her sister and maid-of-honor, made their way from the car. And I must add a personal thank you to Whitfield’s Best Man who graciously covered me and my camera with his umbrella!

Then the moment was upon them as Whitfield felt a light tap on his shoulder. Her turned still sporting his umbrella and covered Jennifer with it as he took his first glimpses of her. What a sight! She looked absolutely breathtaking in her wedding dress! They laughed together, cried and eventually gathered themselves for a few portraits outside before the rain really started to come down. I absolutely adore this couple, not because they were willing to brave the elements for a few pictures, but because they honestly adore each other and it is so obvious the minute you meet them.

If the earlier Tornado and increasing rain weren’t enough, halfway thru the ceremony the power went out. But nothing was going to keep Whitfield from marrying his beautiful bride! Thanks to all the guests who raised their cell phones to light the remainder of the ceremony, it was absolutely breathtaking!

Thankfully power was on at The Stockroom! Jennifer and Whitfield along with the help of their fabulous wedding planner, Erin McLean (Erin McLean Events), did an amazing job of decorating this already beautiful space. If you have never been to the Stockroom, I can tell you that it has a lot of character, and they simply enhanced the beauty of the room!

The night was filled with many wonderful moments, but by far the one that will always stick out in my mind is the surprise snow fall at the end of the night. Yep, you heard me, snow! Never thought I would photograph a wedding where it rained, snowed and had a Tornado touch down, yikes!

Thank you Jennifer and Whitfield for such  memorable time! I am so thankful to have been a part of your wedding day!
