When I first met Laura I knew it was going to be a great experience working with her. She was so energetic and excited for me to photograph her big day! I very much enjoyed getting to know not only Laura but other members of her family before the wedding day, including their beloved dog, Herbie! Although Herbie could not attend the wedding, he made several appearances due to their genius idea to have a cardboard cutout of him on display throughout the night.
The Cotton Room was the venue Laura and Pete chose for their wedding ceremony and reception. Another reason I knew immediately I wanted to work with Laura. The Cotton Room is one of my favorite venues to photograph. Not only is the staff fantastic, but the venue itself is gorgeous!
Laura and Pete wanted to include their family and bridal party into their first look photos. I was trying to think of the best way to do this but still capture this very intimate moment. So I thought, instead of having everyone lineup at the end of the night to send the couple off, why not do it for the first look? I love how it turned out!
Since the weather was a little dreary, we were forced to stay indoors for portraits. Another reason I love the Cotton Room, rain or shine, you can’t take a bad photo, it is just too beautiful!
Laura and Pete had a wonderful night planned for their guests. After a beautifully choreographed first dance, a very emotional toast from Laura’s dad, and a surprise dance from Laura’s friends and mom to kick off the party, guests enjoyed a delicious dinner and scrumptious cake before dancing their socks off! And if that were not enough to enjoy a great night, a very special guest was on hand to capture their wedding day without a camera. Tesh Parekh painted a live portrait of their first dance and presented it to Laura and Pete at the end of the night.
Congratulations Laura and Pete! And thank you for letting me be a part of your beautiful wedding!
